Positive Impact

We invite you to join us at Oliver's Camp as we seek to make a positive and sustainable impact through responsible tourism.

Asilia Approach

Our goal as Asilia is to be a role model in sustainable tourism. At the heart of our organisation is the conviction that world-class travel can go hand in hand with improving livelihoods and conservation of nature. We strive to create a lasting, positive impact everywhere we operate. We believe in better.

Any sustainable contribution must ultimately begin with oneself. This means we buy locally where possible. It means we reduce our footprint by limiting fossil fuel and use sustainable energy sources such as the sun, recycling water and reducing waste. The remainder of our carbon footprint is offset by supporting local forest projects.

Asilia is proud to be the first travel company in Africa to achieve the highest 5 star GIIRS rating and B-Corporation status. And yet, we trust we do even more. By being creative and developing new models for travel we try to further increase benefits for nature and local people.

Positive impact at Oliver's Camp

  • Oliver’s Camp is a part of the Terat Village Initiative, which is working to halt unsustainable land use practices in the area. Terat Village is 24 miles from Tarangire National Park, in the middle of the Simanjiro Plains, where thousands of wildebeest come to give birth each rainy season. Immigrants and local Masai people have begun farming in the area, imperiling this important and delicate ecosystem. The initiative provides financial support to the Terat Village to fund the construction of schools. In exchange, the village has agreed not to farm on the plains. The initiative also supports a village anti-poaching team.

  • In camp we strive to be carbon neutral but any emissions from our fossil fuel consumption are offset through a local community forestation program.

  • Oliver’s Camp aspires to leave behind nothing but footprints. Our sustainable operations include recycling rainwater and all waste products.

  • Oliver's Camp was the first African accommodation to be certified through Sustainable Travel International‘s Sustainable Travel Eco-certification Program (STEP), the globally recognized gold standard in eco-certification, for its ongoing sustainability initiatives.
We Support...

CONSERVATION, COMMUNITY, ECO-TOURISM, COLLABORATION

Oliver’s Camp supports a well-run initiative to manage the difficult balance between Tarangire’s wildlife and the local people who reside on its borders.
