What a Special Place!

My husband and I stayed in Oliver's camp for just 1 night of our safari honeymoon around Tanzania. In hindsight we wish we had stayed for longer as it was the highlight of all the accommodations we visited - and we had done our homework using trip advisor to select each one. The hosts Jackie and Justin were very welcoming and made us feel at home instantly. The camp is located in a very quiet spot inside Tarangire park, and on our visit at the very start of March we saw an enormous amount of elephants and giraffes, and even a pack of lions very close to camp.

To describe this place as a camp almost feels like cheating as this is 'glamping' at its finest. The camp is relatively permanent, so the novelty of staying in a 'camp' surrounded by the sounds of the bush can be enjoyed without comprising on creature comforts. For example our 'tent' had a concrete floor, fully flushing toilet and wonderful hot outside shower.

The evening meal was really good, and our lunchbox the next day was my favourite of the trip - I am a semi-vegetarian, so I did struggle with bland food at a lot of other places. This was an exception. We wouldn't hesitate to return."

Moonlight Serenade

My husband and I had booked this trip to Tanzania as a 'special' birthday present for me - I could not have asked for anything better. We stayed at Olivers Camp at the beginning of February 2014 and what a delight it was. Jacky and Justin are the most welcoming of hosts who make you feel at home. The staff are extremely friendly and happy to answer any questions you may have whilst escorting you to and from your tent. The food was first class and the whole ambience was to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. The tents were excellent - extremely airy, clean and the views outstanding: the outside shower was an added attraction of being at one (if in a somewhat luxurious setting) with nature. Being serenaded by lions during the night is something you only ever dream of. We will definitely be back."

Never Wanted to Leave!

We arrived at Oliver's Camp in the late afternoon. What a gorgeous vision it is. We were greeting by Justin & Jackie with smiles, towels to wash up and some fresh juice. Our tent was a dream come true. It was luxurious but not overwhelming to the point of feeling out of place. The outdoor shower is so beautiful with the sound and views of the bush right there in front of you.
Drinks and snacks around the fire kicked off this living dream -- the stars above incredible. Staff members knew our names before we could even begin the evening! Our dinner was beyond good -- sitting at a table for 14 we felt like a family from the start. We were treated to a most lovely meeting with Louis, the guide whose smile lit up the night. He played and sang on his thumb piano with some of the staff backing him up. Our rendition of "the Lion Sleeps tonight" will forever be in my heart.
The staff also joined us in a festive dancing and singing around the table that warmed the heart.

We had delicious made to order breakfast and then our picnic lunches. None of us wanted to leave but we were only booked one night at this delightful camp. To all travelers -- make this at least a 2 night stay -- another night if you are able. We had to leave too early and the rest of our trip echoed with "wish we had more time at Oliver's Camp.""

Oliver's Camp is Awesome!

My wife and I just returned from a Safari from Tanzania, and stayed 3 nights at Oliver's Camp. From the moment we got there Justin and Jackie welcomed us and made us feel like family. The food was superb, and Jackie even was kind enough to give my wife recipes of some of the outstanding dishes we had. The safari experiences we had with Joshua and Blessed were terrific, and we will treasure the memories of the game viewing always. The room was very spacious and clean, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend Oliver's camp highly."

Amazing Experience!

Oliver's camp was spectacular! The manager's Justin and Jackie were wonderful, the food was great, and rooms were lovely. We absouletely loved the outdoor shower that was in every room (I showered while watching a herd of buffalo about 50 feet away). We also enjoyed the pre-dinner camp fire and drinks. Was a great way to meet the other guests and share animals sightings from the day. We optioned to partake in a walking safari while staying at the camp. Was a lot of fun and we got to see some animals very close up on foot giving us a completely different perspective. Another guest had optioned to do Fly-camping the night were at Oliver's and he had a lion approach his tent in the middle of the night. Sounded like an amazing experience. The space for these activities is limited so make sure to tell your tour operator to book in advance.
We booked our Safari through Planet Africa Safaris. They are a partner of Asilia Africa (the owner of Oliver's Camp). I cannot recommend them enough. Our entire trip went off without a hitch. Their staff is incredibly responsive and helpful. The guide they provided was excellent as well.
